Matthew Pekar is the Associate Director of Sustainability at RTX. Matt has over twenty-five years’ experience in water, energy and GHG related matters. Over his career Matt learned from many pioneers in the environmental field. His professional
career matured within then United Technologies through now RTX. From HVAC engineering to Corporate Energy Management to Global Sustainability, Matt has used his practical skill set to align corporate reduction initiatives with Science Based Targets.
Matt came to the UTC Corporate office in 2014. During his tenure in corporate, he has been instrumental in setting and achieving five-year corporate reduction goals in energy, GHG and water. Matt spearheaded the revisions to both the RTX Energy
and the Water Best Management Practices Guidebooks. He successfully navigated the merger of two mature sustainability programs and has worked extensively to develop future sustainability leaders by orchestrating internal CEM training and Co-chairing
the Conserving RTX Energy & Water – (CREW) team.
Matt has a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of New Haven and a master’s in finance from the University of Connecticut. He is a licensed
Professional Engineer in the State of Connecticut and a Certified Energy Manager with the Association of Energy Engineers.
