Laura Nelson

Laura Nelson is the Associate Director of Market Engagement for the Value Reporting Foundation (soon to be part of the IFRS Foundation), where she develops relationships and structures engagements with market participants for dialogues with the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) and ISSB Technical Team regarding feedback on financially-material sustainability topics. This feedback ensures that the ISSB’s due process for development of standards remains market informed. Her work includes managing the activities related to the ISSB Technical Reference Group, a standing committee of subject matter experts who provide key expertise and insights on current market practice, reporting and subject matter capability to the ISSB. Prior to joining VRF, Laura spent over 15 years in environmental, health, safety and sustainability consulting, where she specialized in supporting clients across a variety of global industry sectors with development and implementation of environmental social and governance (ESG) strategies and public disclosures. She also previously served as the Associate Director of the Beverage Industry Environmental Roundtable (BIER). Laura holds a B.S. in Environmental Studies from the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry and is a certified International Society of Sustainability Professionals Sustainability Associate.
