For your convenience, NAEM has compiled the information below about what you'll earn for attending and how to obtain credits.

If you don't see your certification listed, we're happy to support you by providing any proof you need to receive credits through your certifying organization.

Certifications:
  • CSP - Certified Safety Professional
  • ASP - Associate Safety Professional
  • OHST - Occupational Hygiene and Safety Technician
  • CHST - Construction Health and Safety Technician
  • SMS - Safety Management Specialist
  • STS - Safety Trained Supervisor
  • STSC - Safety Trained Supervisor Construction
  • CET - Certified Environmental, Safety and Health Trainer

What You'll Earn by Attending:
  • 0.1 points per hour for safety-related courses and 0.5 points for conferences for each day over 6 hours
  • 1 point per year for membership to a professional safety organization
  • 1 point per year for conference chair or membership of conference organizing committee
  • 0.5 points per year for a session organizer (moderator)
  • 2 points per year for being an officer of NAEM
  • 0.25 to 1 point per year for presenting at a conference

  • The Board for Global EHS Credentialing does not maintain a single guide or set of instructions for certification maintenance. Rather, each certification or credential it supports has its own set of requirements. Each credential link above goes to the corresponding credential maintenance page.

  • Credit is available by attending courses, seminars, or concurrent sessions. Attendees should record the number of hours attended, session title and description, etc. on the ACCO Continuing Education Checklist. See links below for more information.

  • Offices held in professional engineering society (1 credit per year - 3 max)
  • Attending relevant industry events (technical training - 0.2 credits per hour)
  • Presenting to your peers at events (1 credit, per energy topic)

  • Two (2) points for each conference or meeting lasting one or more days
  • One (1) point for each conference that is less than one day
  • One (1) point for each unpublished presentation at a meeting

  • 1 CMP/contact hour; maximum of 5 CMPs per day, up to 20 CMPs per conference
  • 5 CMPs/presentation for delivering an original presentation

  • Membership in a national organization receives 3 points

  • Recertification hours are based on actual contact hours (i.e., 60 minutes of attendance at an educational program equals 1 CE hour).
  • Only educational portions of a meeting are eligible for CE hours. Business meetings, tours, and exhibits are not considered educational portions. Time allotted for registration, greetings or welcomes, breaks, and meals must be deducted from the eligible credit time
  • Fractional hour amounts in increments of 15 minutes may be recorded as .25, .50 or .75
