Laurie Townsend-Sanders serves as the Global Environmental Programs Executive at GE HealthCare, where she leads a global team in defining and implementing the company's environmental strategy. Her role involves overseeing environmental sustainability across more than 85 sites and service operations worldwide and integrating sustainability practices across various functions. Notably, in May 2024, GE HealthCare's science-based climate targets were approved by the Science Based Targets initiative, marking a significant milestone in the company's environmental transformation efforts.
With over 25 years of experience in Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) and Process Safety Management across diverse industries including chemical and aviation, Laurie brings a wealth of expertise to her role. She joined GE HealthCare in September 2022 in anticipation of its January 2023 spin-off as a standalone entity. Laurie's comprehensive approach to EHS strategy encompasses assessing risks and opportunities, developing processes to execute and sustain strategies, and leveraging lessons learned to drive continuous improvement.
Laurie earned her B.A. in Biological Sciences from Clemson University and a Master of Public Health in Environmental and Occupational Health from Emory University.
Laurie lives in Anderson, SC with her husband, Tom, and their daughters, Addie Grace and Parker Kate.
