Teamwork Wins Wimbledon
In an emotional post-match interview Andy reflected on what it took to reach this pinnacle and said, "I surrounded myself with a great team who helped me to learn from my numerous mistakes along the way." What a humbling admission from a hero in a sport that many see as a solo act.
I was reminded of the sage advise I was given years ago that "none of us is as strong as all of us." What, then, makes a team player?
Please allow me to list a few thoughts and get your reaction to them…
- Make each other be right not wrong
- Look for ways to make new ideas work, not for reasons why they won't
- Don't make negative assumptions about each other
- Take pride in one another's successes
- Speak positively about one another at every opportunity
- Maintain a positive mental attitude no matter the circumstances
- Act with initiative and courage
- Do everything with enthusiasm...it's contagious!
- Never give up. Keep calm and carry on.
- Enjoy the journey
