Lessons Learned from Real-Life Climate Successes
With more than 35 years of experience as an EHS professional in the oil and gas industry, Paul Espenan, SVP of EHS at Diversified Energy Company, brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to FORUM24. Over the course of his career, Paul has achieved several industry firsts, which he’ll discuss during the session “Lessons Learned from Real-Life Climate Successes.”
In this Q&A, Paul shares the importance of the “why” behind every sustainability project, what people who attend his session can expect, and what he’s looking forward to most about the Forum this year.
When are some common challenges sustainability projects face?
Sustainability projects in general are challenged to connect with overall business objectives in a way that everyone understands the value the initiatives bring to the bottom line. It’s possible to maintain operational efficiency and attain sustainability goals, so the entire company must understand the “why” behind the project. Smarter Asset Management is our way of defining operational production and efficiency while maintaining sustainability goals.
What types of projects are you and/or the other presenters going to share insights about?
We will discuss the projects that most impacted our attaining a reduction in methane intensity by 50% (7 years ahead of schedule).
What will people who attend your session walk away with?
People who attend will understand the power of effective communication, collaboration, and strategic use of a Marginal Abatement Cost Curve.
What are you looking forward to most about FORUM24?
I’m excited about the opportunity to share the great results we have attained and some of the less obvious methods for reaching sustainability goals.
