2024 IMPACT Code of Conduct
NAEM is a not-for-profit professional membership organization started for the purpose of helping "in-house" environmental, health and safety, and sustainability (EHS&S) managers solve their EHS&S problems. Since its inception, NAEM has always valued the relationship that has been established between the corporate and organizational EHS manager and members of the EHS service provider community. This relationship is based, at its foundation, on the understanding that there is an appropriate time and place for selling the services of a supplier/consultant organization. These guidelines are communicated at each of the NAEM activities. The guidelines for the Forum are described below. The NAEM Board of Directors and NAEM Board of Regents enforces these polices, as required, to ensure that this relationship is not compromised.
NAEM activities (including but not limited to the Forum, workshops, and other NAEM-sponsored events) are special for a number of reasons. Not only is the programming educational and solid, but the atmosphere is one of learning and sharing experiences. To achieve that educational atmosphere, certain standards have been established to ensure that the number of supplier/consultant individuals do not exceed the number of "in-house" EHS managers at any function. Specifically, NAEM's goal as it relates to attendance at NAEM-sponsored events is that the number of supplier/consultant attendees at any function does not exceed 33% of the total registration. In accordance with current privacy laws, please use any contact information obtained related to NAEM Corporate and Individual members for networking purposes only and not for general marketing purposes. Also, all sponsors and service providers should always be cognizant that only respectful and non-invasive marketing tactics should be used, and only then during appropriate times and places. To be specific, the only appropriate place for the direct selling of services at the Annual Forum is in the Exhibit Hall, and then only by those who have an exhibit.
As a contributing and valued member of the EHS Community, we are seeking your support to keep the spirit and intent of NAEM events strong. We very much believe that we can ensure that the intent of these standards is maintained. The NAEM Board of Regents has been instructed to monitor this Code and report any violations to the Board of Directors. Violations will not be tolerated and could result in removal from the conference.
To that end, we are asking that each sponsor reinforce the Code of Conduct with each of their participants at all NAEM events, as well as reinforce this conduct with your peers. The relationship that has been established between the NAEM Corporate/Individual members and the EHS Service Provider community is way too important to allow even one incident of misconduct to jeopardize it. We hope that you understand the position taken by NAEM in this regard and realize that it is to your benefit as much as ours.
Thank for your support of NAEM. We appreciate your continuing commitment to the organization and your cooperation regarding this issue.
