Webinar Guidelines and Best Practices
Share your Environmental, Health, Safety & Sustainability (EHS&S) subject matter expertise on a 60-minute webinar with NAEM’s audience of EHS&S professionals from the Fortune 500.
Logistical Details
- All webinars are 60 min and usually take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. (ET)
- NAEM will use 10 minutes (5 min opening, 5 min closing) of the total time for NAEM overview and logistical details.
- If the format requires it, NAEM can manage speaker introductions. This is not included in the 10 minutes reserved for opening and closing remarks.
- All webinars will need a minimum of 10 minutes for audience Q&A. This can either
be at the end of the formal presentation(s) or intermixed throughout the webinar.
- It is recommended that the speakers prepare 40 min of content.
- All NAEM webinars will be hosted in Microsoft Teams.
- All materials (slides,
polls, further resources) must be sent to NAEM by the Friday before by 5:00 p.m. (ET) (Tuesday webinars) or by the Tuesday before at 12 p.m. (Thursday webinars).
- Everyone who registers for the webinar will receive a link to view a recording of the
session and a PDF version of the presentation. Speakers may host the link on their website (sponsored webinars only).
- If selected, the webinar will be featured in our e-news leading up to the date. There will also be one dedicated email to just the webinar along with a post on LinkedIn. NAEM encourages speakers to coordinate these efforts to reach a wider audience.
How to Increase Engagement on Webinars
- Have more than one speaker. Introducing more than one perspective will broaden how the topic is discussed and usually leads to more registrations since the topic will then apply more people. It is recommended that are no more than 4 people (3 speakers,
1 moderator) on a 60 min webinar.
- Ask the audience questions. Whether it is formally through a series of poll questions or informally by asking for input in the chat, turning the focus to the audience is a great way to make them a part of the conversation.
- Bring the corporate perspective. The webinars that feature corporate speakers usually lead to higher registrations and a more engaging session with attendees. For service providers and consultants, this is ideal positioning as attendees will see you
as a key component in corporate EHS&S strategy.
- Focus on widely adoptable solutions. NAEM has a diverse community — different industries, sizes, and geographical locations — so the more the solutions are readily available and don’t apply to a specific product or service, the more
it will resonate with the audience.
- Use slides to support your talking points. With more and more items competing for attention, speakers who have used their slides in addition to, rather than the focus of their presentation have more engaging sessions.
