Brenda Rian

Brenda Rian is the Global EHS manager for AOL, Inc. (formerly known as America Online); a global leader in providing and delivering high-quality on-line content, as well as (free) email services. Brenda provides oversight for the range of EHS matters, including compliance, 'green' technologies, EHS risk management, and sustainability programs. As such, Brenda is involved with the energy, water, and waste management of AOL's operations and facilities. For example, ONE of AOL's Data Centers (through which the internet runs) consumes as much electricity as AOL's entire property portfolio- combines.
Before she came to AOL, she was VP of EHS for a division of GE outside Philadelphia. Prior to GE, she rose through the manufacturing ranks of Westinghouse Electric to their corporate environmental group in Pittsburgh, PA.
She obtained a BS in Civil Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, PA, and an Executive MBA from the University of Pittsburgh. Professionally, Brenda is LEED AP Certified, and personally, an avid Habitat for Humanity volunteer, having built houses in 5 countries.
