Carl Gerhardstein is Assistant Vice President of Public Safety, Health and Environment for CSX Transportation. He is responsible for environmental compliance, remediation, health and sustainability programs for CSX, including air, water, and hazardous waste permits and plans for railroad operations in 23 states covering more than 21,000 route miles. Mr. Gerhardstein has been with CSX for 32 years and has been in the environmental department for the past 21 years. Before joining that department, he worked 12 years with the railroad's engineering department. Carl holds a BSCE from the University of Kentucky, an MBA from the University of Phoenix and is a registered Professional Engineer in Florida and Alabama.
