Donald Clark is a senior leader within the Environmental, Health, Safety, and Sustainability (EHS&S) department at BioMarin Pharmaceutical Inc. in San Rafael, California. Donald manages EHS&S Capital Projects Portfolio and serves as a principal technical resource for the conceptual design and project execution of biologics manufacturing facilities, pharmaceutical research laboratories and related GxP support facilities. Donald also leads EHS&S technical investigations into biologics and gene therapy bioprocessing, pharmaceutical water utilities systems, and environmental site investigations and assessments. He supports BioMarin’s mission of developing first-in-class and best-in-class therapeutics that provide meaningful advances to patients who live with serious and life-threatening rare genetic diseases.
Prior to his current role, he worked extensively within the Defense sector supporting civil and environmental engineering operations at Edwards Air Force Base for nearly 10 years. He has also provided environmental program management and environmental engineering support for the U.S. Air Force Civil Engineer Center, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and the U.S. Naval Facilities Engineering Command. Donald has over 25 years of experience across numerous EHS&S disciplines and his past responsibilities have included Human Health and Ecological Risk Assessments, Environmental Remediation, Biological Modeling, and Water Quality Assessments. Prior to BioMarin, Donald held leadership positions at PCC Structurals, ICF International, Tetra Tech, and the University of Virginia. Donald has a B.Sc. in Biology and a M.Sc. in Biological Modeling and Statistics, both from the University of Victoria, British Columbia, Canada.
