Greg Porta is currently the Corporate Product Stewardship Director for Saudi Arabian Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC). In this role, he leads several teams of Scientists, Regulatory Specialists and Toxicologists in 16 different locations in the Pacific, Europe, Middle East and Americas with focus on product safety standards and regulation, chemical and product risk assessment, hazard communications, and strategic regulatory assessment & planning.
Mr. Porta joined GE Plastics in 1989 at the Corporate Research center on the Technical Leadership program. During his 25 year career at GE and SABIC, Greg has held leadership positions in Technical Marketing, Manufacturing, R&D and Environmental, Health & Safety. Greg is a certified six sigma master black belt and is the author of several scientific publications.
Mr. Porta obtained a Ph.D. in Polymer Chemistry from Virginia Tech. in Sept. 1989. Prior to that he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from Loyola College, Baltimore in 1985.
