Monica M. Torres is a senior Environmental, Health, Safety and Sustainability technical manager at Baxter Healthcare Corporation.Throughout her 20 years with Baxter, she has worked at four different Baxter locations, gaining experience and knowledge of the business. General responsibilities include providing environmental engineering expertise to all Baxter operations globally. She currently is leading material efficiency projects for manufacturing operations, as well as generating water and waste value stream maps. Monica also interprets performance data and provides analysis in support of Baxter’s annual Corporate Responsibility Report. She is passionate about driving a positive impact on the environment, particularly in communities where Baxter has a presence. Along with Baxter colleagues, an NGO and other organizations, she assisted in developing a rainwater collection and treatment system and an educational sanitation program in San Juan Tlacotenco, a community located near Baxter’s site in Cuernavaca, Mexico. She holds a B.S. and M.S. in chemical engineering with a certificate in environmental engineering from the University of Puerto Rico at Mayaguez.
