Richard J. Ragan is the Vice President of Global Facilities, Security, Power and Energy, and Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) at American Axle and Manufacturing (AAM), a $6B Tier 1 automotive supplier. Richard has held executive positions with several other global engineering and automotive supplier firms, four of which were positions as CEO/President, in his 46 years of experience prior to his time at AAM. Under Richard’s leadership, his team is responsible for all AAM’s global facilities which includes new construction, expansions and real estate holdings. He is also responsible for developing and maintaining AAM’s leading approach to their Safety program - S4, for proactive and continuous improvement in EHS leadership, management and compliance. The S4 program is based on the principle “that you get the level of EHS compliance that you demonstrate you want” and is focused on developing a safe culture by associate behavioral modifications in the way our associates approach the work day. AAM has experienced a very successful and robust EHS program recognized as a benchmark for Tier 1 Suppliers. In addition, he is responsible for the development, management, and reporting of the Sustainability program, specifically the “E” segment, of which he led the development of AAM’s global E4 system. An Environmental program that measures the level of conformance to AAM standards between all global plants.
