Tamara Cook is a Sustainability Director at Leggett & Platt, Inc, a diversified manufacturer headquartered in Carthage, Missouri. She has been in this roll since late 2021.
Tamara leads the development, implementation, and improvement of policies, programs, and initiatives to reduce the impact Leggett & Platt’s operations have on the environment. She works to reduce consumption of natural resources, supports the company’s sustainability and Environmental, Social, and Governance goals, and sets sustainability and ESG strategy and long-range plans in collaboration with company leadership.
Previously, Tamara was a Senior Program Manager at the North Central Texas Council of Governments. She managed programs and projects related to a variety of sustainability topics including: water resources and conservation, water quality, flood risk reduction, public works, stormwater, waste management, energy-efficiency, building codes, and development excellence. She also has previous work experience in environmental justice, air quality, alternative fuels, and emission reduction strategies.
Tamara is a member of the American Planning Association and is certified by the American Institute of Certified Planners. Tamara credentials include LEED Green Associate and Sustainability Associate from the International Society of Sustainability Professionals.
Tamara received her Bachelor’s Degree from Texas Christian University, majoring in Environmental Science. She subsequently received a Masters Degree in City and Regional Planning with an emphasis in Environmental Planning from the University of Texas at Arlington, and a Masters Degree in Environmental Science and Engineering from the University of Texas at Arlington.
Tamara volunteers her time at her children’s schools and plays the violin in the Coppell Community Orchestra.
